Workforce & Education
The Jobs of the future.
Scott County is home to eight large companies, including the world’s largest log home manufacturer, with a combined workforce of more than 8,000. Because of the diversity of the industries and the ample opportunity for training, Scott County’s workforce is multi-skilled and diverse.
Area Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs) and Roane State campuses work with local industries to create tailored training programs. Many of the higher education institutes offer certificate programs in nursing, machining, welding, and the only power line construction and maintenance program in the state.
Tennessee’s innovative workforce partnerships and education reform are developing qualified candidates for skills in high demand. Tennessee is leading the way in education reform by increasing the number of Tennesseans with college degrees or certifications through the Tennessee Promise and TN Reconnect. As the only state in the country with these initiatives, Tennessee promises employers the support of highly-skilled workers.
