Other industry sectors that are strong in Scott County include research and development, automotive and outdoor and adventure lifestyle. Tile manufacturing, natural gas and similar operations utilize Scott County’s natural resources. Highland Telephone Cooperative provides broadband to every home and business in the county.
JDS Technologies
JDS Technologies relocated from Ohio to Scott County in 2004. Since then, the company has grown from two employees to 135 and undergone four expansions, which has resulted in the 105,000-square-foot-facility where they now work. JDS manufactures custom plastic and rubber products for oil and gas, aviation, automotive, appliance and medical companies and for general industrial uses. In addition to manufacturing, JDS provides engineering and design services, rapid prototyping, all types of molding and finishing, and has onsite machining capabilities.
Chambers American Products
Chambers is a homegrown company that started with a strong base in machining and became one of the nation’s top manufacturers of roadside mowing equipment. Municipalities and private corporations across the country buy CAP boom, flail and side mowers as efficient attachments to John Deere, Massey Ferguson and other tractors. Veteran and pilot Roger Chambers has been manufacturing and selling the mowing attachments since 1998.
Container Technologies (CTI)
CTI started in 1999, making high quality industrial containers. The company has now expanded operations into a 66,000-square-foot facility built specifically for the efficient, high-volume manufacture of waste containers for the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of Defense and Environmental Management as well as custom products for international commercial construction clients. CTI provides engineering and design services, performs testing and certification and fabricates custom containers in sizes as large as more than 2,000 cubic feet.
