Scott County, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and State Highway 297, has the advantage of a central location and easy access to neighboring cities and counties as well as to major U.S. Interstates. Scott County is only 50 miles north of Interstate 40 at Rockwood, 20 miles west of Interstate 75 at Jacksboro.
High-speed broadband internet is available to every home and business in Scott County through Highland Telephone Cooperative. The co-op has laid over 2,700 miles of fiber cable since 2011.

Major U.S. highways include Highway 27 passing through the city north to south. State roads include Highway 52, 297 and 456. The R. J. Corman Railroad Group, which provides rail service to the county, offers 11 short line railroad companies spanning Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.

Scott County has easy access to many transportation options. Scott Municipal Airport, with its 5,500-foot asphalt runway, is eight miles north of Huntsville, three miles off U.S. Highway 27. Nashville International Airport—less than 150 miles away—has 16 airlines offering an average of 400 daily flights to 89 markets, 49 of them nonstop (as of August 2006).

The Tennessee River is the closest navigable waterway, with a commercial port at Lenior City, 82 miles away, and Knoxville, 60 miles away.
